Switch 2 Preorders Begin on April 24th

Originally scheduled for April 9th, Nintendo temporarily paused the date for Switch 2 preorders during the relative instability caused by U.S. President Donald Trump’s proposed tariffs, which would have altered costs of production for the entertainment company. The new date, as stated by Nintendo’s official website, will be April 24th.

The website also contains the suggested MSRP for the console as well as games, accessories, cameras, and storage. The pricing is as follows:

As you can see, some math has been worked out behind the seens, and the original pricing for some of the more niche products associated with the Switch 2, the vast majority of which most consumers wouldn’t have heard of ahead of time, have been altered in price. That is, they are more expensive.

While a tad upsetting, the fact that the console itself hasn’t been touched in price is a relief. The same can be said for Mario Kart World, which made rounds in the news strictly because of its high price. In fact, the bundle that allows to buy both for a combined price of $499 USD makes both items lowered in price so much that it comes close to unreasonable.

The Switch 2 preorders will be released on June 5th, and don’t give us a reason to tell you that we told you so. While shipping estimates may vary from customer to customer, preordering the Switch 2 is certainly the most reliable way to ensure you don’t have to deal with long lines or out-of-stock retailers. Or, worse yet, scalpers.
