To be perfectly clear, I still believe that Cyberpunk 2077’s revelations about its moral philosophy still lacks depth. The methods through which the ideas of the devs were put forward were fairly heavy-handed, and I don’t take back what I said about that facet of the game.

All of that said, I don’t think I realized just how much wider the game itself really was. I mean, purely as a form of entertainment, as a looter shooter, as a movie, as a role-playing game, Cyberpunk 2077 is actually pretty damn top notch. I’m replaying the game right now, and I feel that, if the game can hold up to the quality introduced in Watson early on, Cp2077 can actually go ahead and take an 8/10 instead of a 7, as I originally gave it.

This definitely has something to do with the fact that I’ve been playing more ARPGs lately, but the loot aspect of Cyberpunk 2077 is absolutely world class. It’s interesting that players who don’t bother visiting ripper docs to check out ALL of the available purchases will miss out on some game-breaking capabilities afforded to the player-character. I’d argue my original view of Cyberpunk 2077 stemmed from the mind of a player who actually didn’t have a view of the whole canvas. That is, as I stated, the game is much wider than I had previously believed.

Crafting specs come in five tiers, and as far as I can tell, loot that one crafts is always going to be slightly stronger than equal loot found in the world, tier for tier. The essence of the crafting system revolves around dismantling weapons found in the world for components, then finding or buying crafting recipes to create stronger and stronger stuffs.

Playing through on the hardest difficulty, this feels like a must, but is also worth doing on any difficulty in the first place. In short, I find it fun. The armor system, since it’s rework at least a year ago I can’t actually remember anymore, is intuitive and negates all damage, which means visiting ripper docs, who supply the player-character with most of the armor they can enjoy, compounds on the necessity for players who want to have fun to mod their bodies (praise the lord.)

I’m taking my time, and the game is rewarding me for it. The NCPD scanner hustles and Cyber-Psycho sightings, which before felt a chore, are now acting as a playground for me to experiment with my Gorilla fist build and to get cash for new cars, crafting recipes, and body mods. Main story be damned, I’m a side quest prince in Cyberpunk 2077.
