Update: BSG have released the ruleset for the upcoming hardcore wipe: find them all here.

Escape From Tarkov Developer Battlestate Games released, via their discord server, an updated roadmap for 2025. With full release still planned for Q4, 2025 (likely around Christmas), some other interesting changes have been included for July:

As the image above shows, the updated roadmap includes a “Hardcore Wipe” for July. What “hardcore” means isn’t exactly clear. It might include a new “hardcore” game mode, which borrows rules from Streamer Pestily, who plays with a hardcore ruleset (no traders, no flea, maximum immersion) every wipe after progressing sufficiently through his main. A wild speculation would suggest that everyone would be subject those rules or, at the very least, a no flea playthrough. (That would be rad, indeed.)

Possibly, what hardcore means is simply “short.” As in, it’s a hardcore wipe because players only get until 4-5 months to play, although that isn’t that short for an EFT wipe, so the name is cause for speculation, regardless.

Fence encapsulates the mysterious, punitive development nature of BSG development.

Given Battlestate Games’ history of going all-out with the sheer difficulty, confusion, and sever lack of hand-holding in their game design, it wouldn’t be that wild to assume that they would give their players one last wipe to play the game in it’s purest, most punitive form: No flea for anyone (at the very least.)

Clearly, since the changes to hideout ingredients requiring FIR, BSG envisions their EFT as one where players have to fend for themselves instead of gaming a market system. (That’s what fence is for.)
