My first impressions of Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 is that it’s a very good game. I’m only a few hours in, but so far I can so with confidence that if the game turns it up a notch towards the end-game, it could easily be an 8/10.

But this article isn’t about the game’s mechanics or its obscenely pretty music or even it’s original story. No, this article is about the fact that every major or minor (no) character that has been introduced to me thus far has been disgustingly hot.

I blame it on the frenchie-ness of the creators, here. I don’t really understand the connection, but the fact that characters speaking perfect English, in English accents, randomly feel the need to say “merde” somehow, in some way, has a through line to the nature of everyone’s face being biteable in this game.

Gustave? Biteable. Sophie? Pompous Snortable. Lune? Feet. Maelle? She’s a nice girl. I’m only just getting started with the game, so I don’t have other characters in memory, but I’m sure they’ll come to me soon.

I’ll have a review out on Clair Obscure: Expedition 33 soon enough, but so far I can give it a solid 7/10. Pretty good. Pretty pretty. (I should call her.)
