I’ve got to be completely honest: devs doing this thing where the official reveal trailer is followed by a “out now” / “out in five minutes” / “out five days ago” announcement is pretty much the coolest thing they’ve done since making a good game ten years ago. I’m a big fan of it.
Unrelated to that, the Oblivion Remaster is out now. The early reviews are fairly positive so far, with some negative reviews citing generic artwork replacements and optimization issues. Par for the course with AAA gaming, to be honest.
I’ll keep the outright guesses to a minimum for this news piece since I haven’t played the remaster (and don’t plan to anytime soon.) But I’ll just say that it doesn’t surprise me that Bethesda would go after Oblivion for a remaster: Skyrim already had that treatment roughly 100 times over and Morrowind is already perfect. Oblivion, on the other hand, has had no alternate versions released and is rather divisive when it comes to reception.

The Remaster can be bought for $49.99 on Steam, and boy do I recommend just waiting for a discount, if you can control yourself.
