Radiation Suits are absolutely necessary for progression beyond the early game in Subnautica. Once the Aurora begins dispersing radiation, a radiation suit will be required to explore near the ship. Here’s a simple guide on how to make one.
Ingredients
- 2x Mesh Fiber
- 2x Lead
Where most new players struggle is finding the requirements for that Mesh Fiber. The lead is a little more straightforward, and most players probably find out quite early how to mine for precious metals.
To produce Mesh Fiber:
Acquire Creepvine Clusters by slicing them with a knife. These long greenies are easily spotted by their length rising up from he ocean floor. One can also find golden clusters of seeds around them that make their positions pop out to the eye. You’ll need four Creepvine Clusters total to produce two Mesh Fiber.
To acquire two Lead:
Search for Sandstone outcrops and simply click on them. Eventually, this rocky outcrop will produce either Lead, Silver, or Gold. Despite the RNG associated with Lead, Sandstone Outcrops are rather common and won’t withhold the necessary ingredients for long. Find them sprawled along cave walls and the ocean floor.
Technically, a player could also find lead as a large coalescent material on the ocean floor, but given how early a radiation suit is required, it’s unlikely the player will have access to the necessary tech to harvest it in this way.
