Jagex announced their upcoming Runescape-based survival/crafting game, Runescape: Dragonwilds. The game is set to be released in Spring of 2025, and takes place in the forgotten and cheesily named land of Ashenfall, which had to be a name that someone tried to get changed at some point, I’m just sure of it.

As stated, the game is not a Runescape 4, nor is it trying to be anything like it. Dragonwilds is going to be, in all likelihood, Jagex’s take on the Enshrouded formula of pitting a group of friends against the world in a quest against a lore-friendly boss.

Craft, kill, scavenge, and repeat, I can already see it now: finding OSRS / RS3 items of some notoriety and being just so happy about it. I’m not being sarcastic about that, either. I will be absolutely fuming if I don’t find a party hat lying around some underground chest somewhere as a little Easter egg ala Bethesda.

Yes I will be playing it and no, I don’t think I’ll be able to AFK in OSRS while doing so. Sad!
