Akin to cheaters with aim bots, wall hacks, and the ability to spawn right in front of your face, Escape From Tarkov’s new event AI nicknamed “Smugglers” have a habit of mucking about and ruining raids.

The AI, for chads with maxed traders and end-game gear filling out their stashes probably add an enjoyable amount of challenge, maybe. But for players like myself, Smugglers are pretty annoying.

Late-game wipes all tend to feel fairly samey: Grinding out tasks feels useless, looting often feels like a practice of habit than of necessity, and PvP is really the only thing worth pursuing, Hence why Labs and Customs, and occasionally Reserve, are always poppin’.

But Smugglers, a remedy to that samey-ness though they may be, have added to that problem immensely. First, their gear is akin to that of raiders, but they’re everywhere and provide early game players, like myself, little reason to grind out traders thanks to their loot.

They also make looting feel useless for… well – the same reasons mentioned above: Their loot is better than what a pair of drawers, I dare say, shall net you.

Additionally, PvP has beceome a little more chaotic thanks to the Smugglers cracking shots at players from a mile away, although I’m sure many players are enjoying that aspect of the game right now, so I’ll leave it be.

I’m not even saying I would rather Smugglers not be in the game, I’m just saying they’re kind of annoying.
