BHVR will be extending Dead by Daylight’s 2v8 Game Mode until August 15th. The popular temporary addition, which can be likened to Riot Game’s temporary URF mode for League of Legends but in DBD format, has proven chaotic enough to retain player interest, at the cost of queue times for normal play. Some players have pointed out, publicly, that while they enjoy the game mode, not being able to play killer in normal queues without waiting an extreme amount of time is less than satisfying.
BHVR has always had a love-hate relationship with their playerbase, it would seem. Between telling players to play other games when complaining too much, to taking ages to make changes that have been desired for, in some cases, years, the studio has a shakey history when it comes to moving forward in a way that seems to be making honest eye contact with their fans. Two steps forward, three steps back, some might say.
This game mode, while absolutely made in good faith and definitely a success on BHVR’s part, isn’t without its faults. In its own way, it represents the always slightly off-the-mark relationship the developers have with their clientele.
In any case, the extension, assuming there aren’t any more to follow, will last until the 15th of August.
