Sometimes, the oldest trick in the book is the most consistent. For the OSRS player, Blue Dragon Slayer tasks aren’t the oldest trick, but they certainly are ancient.

Most Slayer tasks can be measured in value as their Slayer XP/PH. A higher XP per hour mark, a higher value of task. For Blue Dragons, the numbers begin to add up to great amounts of XP, and right quick.

A single Blue Dragon, which can be easily found in the Taverly Dungeon and quickly arrived at with 71 agility, is worth:

  • 348 Prayer XP, as its bones can be sacrificed at the Libation bowl.
  • 70 Crafting XP, as its hides can be tanned and sewed into Blue Dragonhide armor (and, of course, alched for extra cash thereafter).
  • 105 Slayer XP (with a Slayer Helm, these tasks can fly by.)
  • 420 Ranged / Melee XP. If you’re in need of Magic training, Blue Dragons have a 50% weakness to water spells, which can up the Average XP of your runes by quite a bit.
  • 140 HP XP

Collectively, this means that each Blue Dragon killed is worth a combined total of 1083 in immediate and banked XP. This is to say nothing of the alchables and hard clue scrolls that these Blue Dragons drop, which will bring a healthy amount of GP to the table alongside chances at rare drops from Clue Scrolls.

These days, Blue Dragon tasks are synonymous with Vorkath Tasks. But always be sure to remember the mathematics associated with the common Blue Dragon and, for early to mid-level accounts, the excellent source of XP, GP, and safespottable value they bring.
