Developer Camouflaj is setting their sights on a New Batman: Arkham game which is set to release exclusively for the Meta Quest 3 VR headset.

The developers have eight years of experience in creating VR games, and as detailed in a press release, are excited to bring their expertise to the table for such a monumental title.

The developer’s previous title, an Ironman VR game released in 2022, generally received lukewarm reviews from the average gamer, but still struck a chord with some Ironman fans who were specifically looking for a VR experience in the universe they cared so much about.

Whether or not this Batman VR title will have the quality to keep your everyday Arkham fans engaged remains to be seen, but the huge question mark placed on the VR hardware can’t be shaken, even years after its release: asking fans of a series to purchase a specific piece of hardware just to play one game is a severely limiting factor in a lot of VR’s viability in the gaming market.

VR is typically thought of as an afterthought; a subpar way to play video games that annoys more than it provides entertainment once the novelty has worn off. Unfortunately, the onus is on developers like Camouflaj to change that public perception. Hopefully, Batman: Arkham Shadow is a step in that direction.
