Battlestate Games, the studio responsible for the Legendary Extraction Shooter Escape from Tarkov just accidentally deleted a ton of player’s accounts.
In a tweet from BSG:
As a result of a technical malfunction there was a loss of part of the game profiles data. It is not possible to restore profiles in a short period of time. All players whose profiles have been affected will receive proportional in-game compensation in a short period of time. Achievements and in-game stats were not lost due to a technical issue. #EscapefromTarkov
Let’s, for a second, forget about the humorous nature of putting a #EscapefromTarkov right after delivering news about a game-breaking bug and acknowledge that, while EFT is still in beta, BSG has a pretty horrible track record for delivering reliability to their player base.
The compensation delivered by BSG is, essentially, a god account: maxed traders with nearly unlimited money and capped-out skills. Not bad…
Still, it has to be said that this problem will undoubtedly destroy any sense of accomplishment some players might have had as they approached the end of the wipe and, possibly, achievements they never managed to get before, like acquiring their Kappa container.
